What are Steel Merchant Bars?

Merchant bar includes a wide variety of steel long products with different cross-sections, such as rounds, squares, flats, angles, and T-sections. The steel grades used for merchant bars are typically weldable, low-carbon structural steels.

A merchant bar is used in structural applications involving welding, bending, punching, and forming. These applications are common in building construction, mechanical engineering, and in the energy and transport industries.

They are produced continuously (or by re-heating) from a semi-finished steel billet.
