What are Steel Blooms?
Steel Blooms are a semi-finished steel product produced by continuous casting. They have a rectangular, square, or round cross-section and require further rolling for structural, rail, and wire rod applications.
The external surface should be free from longitudinal and transverse cracks, slivers, corrugation, gas cavities, and slag inclusions.
Blooms are flame-cut to the required length.
Specification
We supply prime steel blooms in carbon and low-alloy steel grades. Low sulphur/phosphorus levels are available, and low levels of inclusions.
Round and rectangular blooms are also available.
Grade
SAE1006, 1008, 1010, 1012, 1013, 1015, 1016.

By container or bulk vessel.
Packing
Packed loose.
Typically, bloom casters simultaneously feed multiple molds and cast several steel strands.
As the steel flows from the tundish into the caster molds, the molds oscillate up and down to
ensure the liquid steel fills the mold completely. To withstand the intense heat of the molten steel,
the caster molds are copper-lined and water-cooled to prevent melting.
