What are Steel Billets?

Steel billets are a semi-finished product that is an intermediate form of steel. They are rectangular, square, or round in shape and are typically produced by continuous casting from the ladle steel furnace or hot rolling steel ingots.

Steel billets are used to produce various steel products like bars, rods, wire, and seamless tubes, suitable for concrete reinforcement, structural applications, low-carbon applications, and drawing processes.

Steel billets can be produced through either the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) or electric arc furnace (EAF) route. They can be refined in a ladle arc furnace and vacuum degasser, undergoing controlled temperatures and chemistries, which allows for a wide range of steel grades for the most demanding applications.
